Memoir of Cardiothoracic Surgeon Yahya Awang

About the Book

Heart to Heart is the memoir of Tan Sri Yahya Awang, one of Malaysia’s pioneering cardiothoracic surgeons. Spanning 45 years in cardiothoracic surgery, the book chronicles the life and work of a person whose faith, dedication and sense of duty have guided steady hands towards touching countless hearts physically and metaphorically. What makes this book a compelling and inspiring read is that Tan Sri Yahya helped transform the country's medical landscape through landmark procedures and achievements. These include the nation's first heart transplant, the establishment of its first standalone heart hospital, Institut Jantung Negara, and later Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur (CVSKL), a similar dedicated heart hospital in the private sector. At the same time this Memoir offers a rare insight into his joyful and close-knit family life.
